Recent Accidents & Incidents

August 27 - A Massachusetts Air National Guard F-15C crashed into a mountainside in a remote area of George Washington National Forest near Elliot Knob, Virginia, killing the pilot.  The aircraft was en route to New Orleans for a new radar installation at the time of the crash.

August 25 - All four aboard a rental Cessna 172 were killed after crashing shortly after takeoff from Cuyahoga County Regional Airport near Cleveland.  All aboard were students at nearby Case Western Reserve University.  The students had reportedly rented the aircraft for a sight-seeing flight after the first day of classes.

August 19 - Two Italian Air Force Tornados collided over Ascoli Piceno, Italy and crashed in a heavily-forested area, igniting a large brush fire.  Both two-person crews were reported missing at post time.

August 14 - No serious injuries were reported after a Piper Cherokee 160 registered to Prior Aviation crashed in a parking lot at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York.  The aircraft reportedly failed to make power during a takeoff attempt.
