Recent Accidents & Incidents

February 26 - A Chautauqua Airlines Embraer 135 operating on behalf of Delta Air Lines made a safe emergency landing at University Park Airport in State College, Pennsylvania after smoke entered the cockpit on a scheduled flight between Cleveland and New York.

February 23 - A single-engine plane crashed in a swamp near Hamilton, Mississippi. The pilot was able to extricate himself and reportedly walked into the kitchen area of a nearby restaurant in a disoriented state before entering the dining area and helping himself to the salad bar, prompting employees to call law enforcement. Authorities believe the aircraft flew through restricted airspace at nearby Columbus Air Force base undetected before the crash.

February 19 - Both aboard an Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30 safely ejected before their aircraft crashed near Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district in India. No injuries were reported on the ground.

February 16 - No serious injuries were reported after a single-engine place crashed at Akron-Canton Airport in North Canton, Ohio. The pilot of the aircraft was reportedly practicing touch-and-goes at the time of the crash.

February 14 - The pilot of an Experimental Avions Fairey Tipsy Nipper T-66 was killed after crashing on Interstate 505 near Winter, California. A witness reported seeing a wing separate from the aircraft before the crash. No injuries were reported on the ground.

February 12 - The pilot of an Indian Air Force MIG-27 safely ejected before his aircraft crashed in the Barmer district of Rajasthan, India. No injuries were reported on the ground.

February 9 - All five aboard a single-engine plane were killed after crashing near Charleroi, Belgium. The aircraft had just departed the airport in Charleroi when the pilot elected to turn back after encountering mechanical trouble.

February 6 - A Beechcraft King Air crashed on landing at Casa Grande Municipal Airport in Arizona, killing both aboard. Witnesses said the aircraft pulled up sharply before the crash.

February 2 - No serious injuries were reported after a single-engine plane with five aboard made an engine-out landing in a snow-covered field near Wellsville, Utah. The pilot reported losing engine power on climb-out from a nearby airport.
